The Dubai Council for Marine and Maritime Industries (DCMMI) Emirates is a specialized industry council (non-profit trade and industry council) formed in 2013 to promote the interests of the marine and maritime industry in Dubai and the UAE. DCMMI Emirates represents a wide cross-section of the UAE’s marine and maritime industry such as Offshore & Engineering, Ship Repair & Maintenance, Shipbuilding & Conversion Rig Building, Chandlery and Yacht Services. These sectors are represented by operators, ship owners, charterers, marine legal service providers, ship managers, brokers, P&I clubs, port operators, marine insurance companies, ship chandlers and yacht manufacture, maintenance and management companies. As well as most of the established local and international manufacturers and suppliers of marine and offshore components, it also represents marine and offshore engineering contractors and companies whose activities are directly related to the industry including classification societies and marine consultants. The Dubai and the UAE marine and maritime industry is a world-class industry with an international clientele. ISES is essentially a non-profit enterprise that exists to co-ordinate and market the international activities of its member companies. The objective of ISES is to unite an independent, high quality worldwide network of members to provide electrical, mechanical, electronic and specialised services to the marine industry. Member companies benefit from being part of a global network which enables them to extend their services worldwide and share technical knowledge and co-operation with other members. The ISES Marine Service Guide is produced annually and mailed to over 5,000 ship owners and managers, thus raising members’ profiles by listing their full details, locations and capabilities to potential customers. A copy of the guide is also left on vessels that members are called onboard to service. Through global networking members are able to discuss issues, share information and help resolve problems. Ship owners who engage the services of an ISES member can be confident that they are utilising the skills of a quality assured service company. The Association has over 50 members in more than 30 countries, covering over 150 ports, including some not covered by other service networks. Many of the members have experienced engineers who have been trained in a variety of manufacturers products; thus, their expertise is not limited to a single brand. Maritime SheEO organizes events like the Maritime SheEO Conference (with over 3000 attendees in person and online), offers training programs, and collaborates with various stakeholders to create a more inclusive maritime environment. It also runs initiatives such as research reports, leadership programs, newsletters and awareness campaigns to inspire more women to pursue careers in shipping, logistics, and maritime sectors. Asian Shipowners’ Forum (ASF) was founded in April 1992 when its first meeting was held at Japan Shipping Club in Tokyo. As one of the important shipping organizations in the world, it consists of six members from the shipowners’ associations of Asia Pacific region i.e. Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Federation of ASEAN Shipowners’ Associations (FASA). To better reflect the work and progress of its members and committees, the Asian Shipowners’ Forum (ASF) - as of January 2022, half of the world’s tonnage was owned by Asian companies (UNCTAD Handbook of Statistics 2022) - has changed its name to Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA). This was proposed during the 18th Chairmen’s meeting held in Beijing, China, on 19th October 2015. Subsequently at the 25th ASF AGM, it was officially declared the change of name from ASF to ASA.
